Do you invite Jesus into your work and workplace? Or, do you leave Him behind?
For many, the thought of their work creates a stressed, panicked feeling. This is called work anxiety. It’s defined as a “specific mental health problem that is often associated with negative work perception." In a recent study, it was found that people with work anxiety show specific patterns of negative ratings of work-associated life satisfaction (work and colleagues) and place increased value on power and the need for control.

🚩 62% reported being unsatisfied with their level of control at work, where work environment has a negative impact on their mental health
🚩 Four out of 10 workers (42%) reported feeling micromanaged at work. Out of that number, 64% of micromanaged workers feel stressed compared to 36% who are also micromanaged but do not feel stressed.
🚩 71% do not feel they have meaningful work and report being more stressed than the 45% who are also stressed, but find their work to be meaningful
How Can We Reduce Work Anxiety?
Invite Jesus Christ into your work, and keep your eyes on Him at all times, for He is our only source of true everlasting peace (Philippians 4:7).
Jesus may or may not choose to remove the storms swirling around you. But when you experience stress and anxiety, whether at work or in your personal life, Jesus will quiet the internal storms and give you His peace. And in those times that He doesn’t take away a difficult circumstance, trust Him. Trust that the Lord’s understanding is greater than our understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6), and His thoughts are greater than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Have faith that His plans and purpose for allowing that storm is for good (Romans 8:28), even when you don’t understand it, for He is our perfect and holy Heavenly Father. And be assured that Christ Jesus will lead you through those storms if you will faithfully take His hand (Isaiah 41:13, Psalm 139:10).

and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” -Isaiah 41:13
But with our minds on sales quotas, presentations, meetings, reports, shipments, and projects, HOW can we involve the Lord in those worldly work tasks and into our work day?
First, spend time in prayer with the Lord before you log on to your laptop, or punch in to start your shift. A team doesn’t go onto the field to face the opponent without first meeting with their coach. It’s here they get the motivation, guidance, and instruction. Similarly, you need the Holy Spirit every day. You need His wisdom and discernment for all decisions- to guide your tongue, to guide when to move and when to be patient. You also need His power to extend compassion, empathy, and love towards the unlovable. When you fully surrender and allow Jesus Christ to live His life through you during your workday, His light will shine through you and penetrate the darkness of this world (John 1:4-5, John 8:12), giving light to the people who need it most. Your workplace can be part of your mission field.
Second, at any point in your day, you can speak to the Lord in little prayers. It can be as simple as, “Lord, help me through this.” Or, “Lord, what do you want me to know right now?” Or, “Lord, how should I respond to this person?” They are quick prayers peppered throughout your work day.
Third, openly give glory to Jesus when someone gives you praise. There are many opportunities to speak the name of Jesus throughout your work day.
Fourth, pray for your managers, co-workers, and customers (Matthew 5:44-45). Try this for at least a month, and notice the changes that start taking place.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things…put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Lord Jesus, I come to you in a posture of humbleness and absolute surrender to you. I repent and ask for Your forgiveness for my lack of faith in you. Grant me your boldness, courage, and power in all things today, and impart your wisdom and discernment upon me. I pray for your peace to lay upon my shoulders at all times- in work and at rest. I pray all of these things in your powerful and almighty name, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Turmeric for Health: A Morning Tea Recipe

Turmeric is a herbaceous plant (Curcuma longa) of the ginger family. It is the major source of the polyphenol curcumin.
Curcumin, also called diferuloylmethane, has been traditionally used in Asian countries as a medical herb due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties.
Research suggests that curcumin can help in the management of oxidative conditions, metabolic syndrome, arthritis, anxiety, hyperlipidemia, kidney health, and degenerative eye conditions.
Ingesting curcumin by itself does not lead to the associated health benefits due to its poor bioavailability, which appears to be primarily due to poor absorption, rapid metabolism, and rapid elimination. There are several components that can increase bioavailability. For example, piperine is the major active component of black pepper and, when combined in a complex with curcumin, has been shown to increase bioavailability by 2000%. Also pairing turmeric with fats like olive oil or coconut oil will increase its bioavailability.
Turmeric can be used in cooking using freshly sliced turmeric root or powdered turmeric. It can also be added to beverages. Turmeric supplements are available in various forms, including capsules and tablets, though it’s best to consume it as a whole food.
Warm Ginger Tea with Lemon and Turmeric
Consume as a first drink in the morning upon waking, to help with digestion.
Preparation:
► Boil water in a kettle
► Grate or slice fresh ginger and turmeric root into a mug. Ground turmeric is okay to use too
► Add lemon juice or slices to the mug (1/2 lemon or amount that’s preferable)
► Add freshly cracked black pepper to increase absorption of the turmeric
► Pour the hot water over the ingredients and let steep for at least 5-10 minutes.
► Optionally add honey or other spices like cinnamon or cayenne pepper

Antioxidant Boost: Turmeric, ginger, and lemon are rich in antioxidants, which can help fight free radicals and reduce inflammation in the body
Immune Support: Lemon is a good source of vitamin C, which is essential for immune function, while turmeric's curcumin may also support the body's natural defenses
Reduced Inflammation: Curcumin has been shown to potentially help reduce inflammation, which is linked to various health issues like joint pain
Digestive Aid: This warm drink may soothe the stomach and support digestion. Turmeric could stimulate bile production, aiding digestion and waste removal, while ginger may help with upset stomach, indigestion, and constipation.
Liver Support: Lemon and turmeric are thought to support liver function and detoxification
Skin Health: The vitamin C in lemon boosts collagen production, and turmeric's antioxidants may help improve complexion and reduce acne
Weight Management: Lemon's pectin may help control appetite, and ginger can boost metabolism. Turmeric may also promote fat metabolism.
Blood Sugar Stabilization: Turmeric may aid in regulating glucose metabolism, while ginger and lemon can help balance blood sugar levels
Possible Side Effects
Digestive Upset: High doses of ginger or turmeric may cause abdominal discomfort, heartburn, diarrhea, and mouth/throat irritation
Potential Drug Interactions: Turmeric and ginger might interact with blood thinners, blood sugar-lowering medications, and blood pressure medications. Consult with a doctor before taking these ingredients if on such medications.
High Doses & Liver Damage: High doses of turmeric or ginger, particularly through supplements, may cause liver issues in rare cases
Tooth Enamel Erosion: Lemon juice is acidic and may erode tooth enamel with frequent consumption. Using a straw and rinsing after drinking is recommended.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Turmeric is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding
Though generally safe, consult with your licensed nutritionist, holistic/integrated practitioner, or medical doctor before consuming turmeric and ginger if you are taking certain medications or have specific medical conditions.†*
