Invitation to the Miracle
The Christian should work as if all depended upon him, and pray as if it all depended upon God. - Charles Spurgeon

Sometimes we place requests on God without seeking His will and desire for our involvement. We faithfully say, “God is going to take care of this for me,” and like Jonah, we go and make a shelter for ourselves, sitting in the shade to see what God will do ( Jonah 4:5 ). Rather, we should keep our spirit sensitive to His presence and stay in His light, working alongside Him should He call us there.
While we need to fully depend upon the Lord, He is often not going to move unless we accept His invitation to faithfully work with Him. One may say, “I just need to have faith as small as a mustard seed, for Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” ” ( Matthew 17:20 ).
However, Jesus then said, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” ( Mark 9:29 ). Fasting is a physical act of involved sacrifice. We give up the satisfaction of satiety and the tasting of food in order to cleanse and to hear from the Lord. Comparatively, our time is a sacrifice, our energy is a sacrifice, and our dedication is a sacrifice. It’s this working sacrifice and perseverance in our prayer requests that’s pleasing to the Lord- not that He needs it- but involving us in His work draws us closer to Him in relationship, in faith, and in love. It helps mold us further into the image of His Son Jesus Christ. He wants us involved with the miracle, like Jesus involved the servants in turning the water to wine ( John 2:7-11 ), and when He invited His disciples to be apart of the miracle of feeding the five thousand ( Matthew 14:16-21 ).
The greatest treasure is that when we are in total submission to the Lord, our spirit is sensitive to see and hear Him working, even in the smallest of details. He wants you to witness the details of the miracle He is doing in your life.
The Christian should work as if all depended upon him, and pray as if it all depended upon God.
And if this has been for you, you can pray right now:
Lord Jesus, I come to you today in a posture of humbleness and absolute surrender to you. I repent and ask for Your forgiveness for all my sins. Lord God, you know my needs right now. I desperately desire to know what you want of me in answering these prayers. Where do I go? What would you have me do, Lord? Open my eyes and ears. Keep my heart sensitive to your working and to your voice. Have me go when you say go, and pause when you want me to pause. I pray all of these things in your powerful and almighty name, Lord Jesus. Amen.
